Electric Vehicles are powered by Lithium-ion batteries. These batteries require critical non-renewable minerals like cobalt and lithium, which are often procured through forced labor, and the refining and manufacturing processes for these batteries release fossil fuel emissions and CO2 into the atmosphere. New Lithium-ion batteries are expensive for both the consumer and the environment. When these batteries have completed their first application lifespan, they are often destroyed, shelved, or recycled - a process that is expensive and inefficient. However, these batteries can maintain upwards of 70-80% of their State of Health, with plenty of power for non-automotive applications. What can be done with these manufactured batteries?
Our mission is to make electrification more accessible by providing tested, affordable, Second Life Lithium-ion batteries. By giving these batteries a Second Life, we are able to create a circular economy that reuses and retains critical minerals, decreases carbon emissions, and creates more accessible and affordable routes to electrification.
