Electric vehicles run on lithium-ion batteries—powerful systems built with critical minerals like cobalt and lithium. These minerals are often mined under harmful conditions, including forced labor, and refined using fossil-fuel-intensive processes. After serving their initial purpose in EVs, these batteries are typically shelved, destroyed, or recycled. To increase circularity, it is critical to efficiently move these batteries to the best location, whether to be reused, repurposed, or recycled. Recyclers face high costs, supplychain inefficencies, and logistical headaches. We created Amptrail to fix that: a platform designed to unlock the full value of these batteries by making reuse and recovery not just possible— but easy, efficient, and scalable.
