Frequently Asked Questions

What can these batteries be used for?

Anywhere there is a need for electricity, our batteries offer a solution.

Being able to store large amounts of energy means that our batteries can be used where other power sources can't. Where standard electrical grids can't reach, where gas and diesel run out of fuel, and where new Lithium-ion batteries are cost prohibitive, Metzev batteries are there to deliver high-performance on-demand power

How long will these batteries last?

The lifespan of a battery depends on several factors including application, charge and discharge cycles, and environmental conditions. Some studies have shown that Second Life batteries may last up to 30 years in stationary applications, and 6 to 12 years for other applications.

NOTE: Metzev does not guarantee any set lifespan on our batteries. All orders come with guidelines on how to properly handle and care for batteries to promote safety and longevity.

Are these batteries reliable?

Unlike some Second Life providers, Metzev sources it's batteries from trustworthy partners who make efforts to ensure that the batteries do not come from crashed or scrapped vehicles or energy storage systems. We strive to give you confidence your battery was sourced reliably.

In addition, every Metzev battery module must pass a series of rigorous tests to check its reliability, performance, and capacity.

Every Metzev customer receives a detailed Data Packet with their order that outlines test results and includes a Battery Safety Agreement. This document outlines basic guidelines for handling and caring for batteries, including preventing overcharging, storage practices, and safe operating temperatures.

All Lithium-ion batteries carry a risk of thermal runaway if mishandled or overcharged. Ensuring safe handling and operation is up to the individual.

Are these batteries still good?

Yes, these batteries are still good for a wide variety of applications. Lithium-ion batteries boast higher energy density, efficiency, and a longer life cycle than other battery technologies.

So while Second Life batteries may no longer be preferable for the high demand of an automotive Electric Vehicle, they still retain 70-80% of their original capacity - plenty of power for other use cases, all delivered with the top-tier performance of Lithium-ion technology.

Our Revolt 350 modules have tested over 95% State of Health, meaning they have been tested to have 95% or more of its original manufactured capacity.

NOTE: Customers are solely responsible for determining battery suitability for any end use.
